Yesterday, when we went to Dollar General to look for something we saw a cardboard box on a table by the door. It said, "all seeds--90 percent off." Since they are 3/$1.00 that made each package .03 cents. So, I bought a few packages of marigold seeds. This morning when we went to get the newspapers we stopped to see if they still had some. I bought all the marigold seeds. I also bought some basil and parsley and a few other cool weather vegetable seeds. We can have a fall garden here. It isn't quite as good as it sounds because being 3 paks for a dollar, each pak has only a small amount of seeds. But, I bought 60 packages. Mostly flowers. I'm going to clean out those beds in the front and plant the seeds. Brian says he'll fix the front fence so the deer won't come over it but it didn't eat the marigolds last time so I think maybe it didn't like the taste. But, fixing the fence is still a good idea. I think it still comes over it for water. So, I've got some work to do outside for a few days, just mornings before it gets too hot. The hot weather bothers me more this summer, I think. It's too soon to plant the vegetables but it may take me a bit to get the spaces cleared out. dooley
Oh wow! I hope I get to stop in there tomorrow when I go to town on another errand! A few years ago, the Dollar Store here used to have $4 rose bushes in the spring. When they were still fresh, it was a good buy. However, none of the employees knew how to take care of them, and they slowly died. NO price mark down, dead rose bushes were STILL $4, and I dont think any gardeners here were so stupid as to pay for dead bushes. Other stores will mark down or give away plants when they are getting too stressed from being potted up.
Well.. You all must know, by now, that waretrop doesn't do anything in a small way. So when dooley told us about this sale I couldn't get there fast enough. Come hell or high water I wasn't going to miss out on this one. Just look at how long the receipt is. That's 75 items for $3.32. that should do me good for next Spring. Ya think??? THANKS dooley :-D
