A few of my glads that I had to dig up. I put in pots and they still flowered. A few potted petunias still in flower. small potted merigold I have about 9 magnolia trees started. If anyone would like seeds I have plenty and they seem easy to start. potted coleus and dusty miller. This pot will soon come into the house. and lastly, I beleive this to be a daisey If I'm wrong please correct me. It wouldn't flower all summer so right before fall I divided this plant and it finally flower this last couple of weeks.
They sure look good, Petunia. That greenhouse must be a great place to start plants. Do you start all your own, saving seeds Gardengater
I love your coleus, its one of my favorite plants, so simple yet the colour of the leaves is beautiful, I have one that has peach & lime green leaves. The last one is a daisy & a pretty one at that, when it gets taller it might start to bend & then break at the weight of the flower so I learned that you take a plastic straw & cut a slit in it, then place it around the daisy stem as a sort of cast, it will stop it from bending make your beautiful bloom last longer. Thanks for posting your beautiful flowers. Stephanie
G.G. Most of the seeds I start are usually inside the house around march. But not everything I have is started by seed. because I like to buy many plants too. Many of my coleus and almost all my impatients (of which I'll be posting them on Sunday) were started from seeds. Steph: Do you do any cuttings from plants?? Your peach & lime colors sound interesting. Maybe we could send cutting to one another. P.M. me. thanks for the advice about the straw for the stem-it'll be helpful. Droopy: Keep your eyes on any freecycle or ads in your local newspaper. Maybe you can find one some time. Their alot of fun.
Wow!! Color!! Those are some really colorful flowers. Very beautiful! I have the coleus one, looks almost the same. I never let mine get that long flower stock, that way it can survive the dark winters indoor. I can't believe it still is alive anyways since i do not have the green thumb when it comes to flowers.. but you obviously do! Well done, and your greenhouse looks so comfy for you now.
Everything looks so nice..I can't believe the iris are still blooming on the front of the house...I did have glads that were blooming when I dug the bulbs out....I would love a green house...
Oh Petunia, I am green with envy! I would LOVE a small greenhouse! Maybe one of these days I will be able to talk DH into getting one. Your Magnolia trees intrigue me...I just picked some seed off the one at work. Any tips on getting them started?
That's a great bunch of flowers and plants. Those Petunias are really making a valient effort to hand on, aren't they? Lovely-coloured glads. Nice show of colour, Petunia. Nice greenhouse.
What beautiful blooms you have.I have Magnolia seeds but haven't been sucessful at getting them to sprout. How did you get them to start ?
Oh that Glad is beautiful, as well as the others. Still so much color this time of the year. Step, that is a great idea with the straws!
What a lovely selection of colour Petunia. The gladi is absolutely beautiful. You must have really green fingers to get the magnolias to grow from seed. I have a Magnolia Stellata. Now that I have seen how well you do I may try to collect seed and have a go myself. The beautiful pink daisy looks like a Gerbera Daisy which comes in a range of lovely colours. Thanks for sharing these pictures, you have brightened up my Sunday morning
Netty, Glenda Once I collected the magnolia seeds, I put them in the freezer to give them that 'over winter' feeling. Then I took them out and started them in as I did my other seeds http://www.gardenstew.com/viewtopic.php ... +tom+seeds once they started their little roots, I then put them in small pots of potting soil. keep moist but not too wet. These magnolias will be their first year, so I am going to let them over winter in pots in my greenhouse. It still freezes in there in the hard of the winter but w/out the snow. Then in the late spring I will be finding them homes. Hope this helps out those of you wanting info on doing magnolia trees.
