I'm looking to force some hyacinths in water for an event next march. I want to force quit a few of them, about 75-100 in fact, just to make sure I have enough in bloom for the date. I was wondering if anyone has forced hyacinths on this site and could give me some tips. I'm familiar with the process.. The one question I have is.. Do I have to place the bulbs in the glass jar with water in the fridge for precooling or is there any way I can just place the bulbs in the fridge for the appropriate time.. Then place them in the glass jars and continue the process from there. It really just boils down to space. I can purchase another cheap fridge if I need to but would like to avoid that. I know I can't store them with fruit. Anyway, I would really appreciate any tips from someone who has done this before! Thanks a bunch!

The Bulb do not need to be in the jars when forced. After all the professional growers do not do it that way, they just put them on trays in huge freezers.
