I was out in the garden today and saw my old dried out stalks form my wife's giant lilies. I knew I had to stake out the sweet pea flowers before they got too big but I didn't have any bamboo left over.

The stalks from those lilies are surprisingly strong. They also have build in spreaders on top for stringing twine or anything else for plants to climb up. I don't know if they would be strong enough for say tomatoes but for climbing flower vines they should work great.

Will let everyone know how they work once the sweet peas start climbing.

I will post pics when they start growing up and thank you stratsmom. Just been another one of those years and been a pretty lousy growing season so far.

Have lots of projects coming up though so hope to be on here more.

What a good idea. You know what they say, "necessity is the mother of invention" or something along those lines. :-D
