Last Sunday was Mothering Sunday here in the UK and as we were spending it with my mum, we celebrated it here on Saturday. This meant of course, a visit to a nursery. It was lovely, and very busy. Lots of spring colour and tempting plants. I must confess, we did make a few purchases, but the bargain of the day were these dark blue beauties.

These were all on a trolley at the exit with a big sign saying 'Please help yourself to a free hyacinth'. Well, as there were four of us, we all took one, and they sat beautifully in the lounge for a few days, giving off their heady scent. They are now snuggly planted in the garden to hopefully reward us next year with their blooms.

Thopse look quite nice, EJ--I have one single blue hycinth in the lottie.I was one that I brought out about ten years ago on the windowsill...I popped it in the ground and it comes up every year now. I am thinking of naming it.

Anyway...they are lovely to look at and delicious to smell. You must be happy with these.

Oh, what a nice Mothering Day gift! That nursery sure knows how to treat customers well.
Your hyacinths will thrive and bloom for you next spring, and remind you to go to that nursery again!

I love the smell and the flowers. I only had them at one place where we lived. In Mayer, I had grape hyacinths but they are just not the same.

Well as you know one of my favourite colours is blue. Your hyacinths are really a lovely shade and getting them free - well what could be better? :stew2:
