Had to buy new freezer this weekend. Can't tell you how many thank you, thank you, thank you's I said when I found old one had quit and I found out before all that hard work had to be tossed out. Called repair service and parts were $300'00+, so we opted for a new and bigger freezer. :-D

What bummer that it quit, but I am glad for you you found it before the food spoiled. I had a couple of times when the children or someone left the freezer open a crack and thawed everything. I put it all back in after I cleaned it out and refroze it. I was glad it wasn't a dead freezer.

Congratulations on your new freezer! Is it chest or upright? Whichever, it will be filled with all your garden and baking results--a delicious stash :setc_083: !

It's an upright. I'm to short and afraid I'd fall into a chest freezer:)

Donna, I'm glad you got an upright. I find mine to be very convenient and frozen items are easy to retrieve.
I did find out that labeling freezer containers on the side, rather than the top, makes it easier to identify the contents. Then I found out that you have to put the labeled side to the front . . . .

In chest freezer put things in plastic milk crates. Rotate to top. So easier to clean out. And date each crate on label.
