I worked the booth for the Veterans Office today at the local fair. It was the Legion Posts turn for today. We had all kinds of freebies laid out for people to take. There was a cute little girl about 6 or 7 years old came up to the table. She was very shy. Her mother was standing behind her. She asked very quietly, " Can I have a pencil for school?" I told her those were magic pencils, and they would help her get better grades in school." She thought for a minute and then asked, " Can I have 2 pencils for school?" She must have thought that she needed the extra help!
How cute! Or maybe she was pondering how much she could hock one of them for on the playground black market for magic pencils... should have been worth at least two cookies and a scented eraser...
That's Sweet Maybe she has a little friend who could do with some help. Little girls tend to think that way. It's when they get to abut 9 or 10 they generally become mercenary.
