It has been 372 years since a full moon lunar eclipse has happened on the Winter Solstice but it happened early this morning. Unfortunately I only got to see the first 30 minutes of the event then clouds rolled in and blocked the view. It was hazy before the clouds moved in so the photos show a fuzzy halo around the moon. Some would say that means we will have rain sometime in the next 24-48 hours but in our present weather conditions I don't think that prediction holds true around here now. It was totally eclipsed around 2:30 a.m. but by then it was totally cloud covered here. Did anyone else stay up and take photos? I got these two... 12:30 a.m. before it started ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) 1 a.m. just beginning ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I took this one just for the spooky effect Spooky look at the full moon ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden )
I got up at 3 cause I had to be at work by 4 so I was hoping to see it then, but unfortunately it was cloudy. Although the clouds were thin enough to let some of the light through so I saw reddish clouds which were pretty cool, but I wish I could have seen the moon. If I would have been able to see it, I probably would have taken my big telescope outside to check it out.
We had perfect conditions here, but unfortunately I didn't remember to wake up I let the dog at at 5am and the full moon was so bright it looked almost like daylight outside! Gorgeous!
