Last Saturday I was asked to help at the annual plant sale in aid of our local Hospice - Farleigh. I of course joined in the selling and it was such an enjoyable morning. Being one of the early ones there to set up meant I was able to bag a few good plants before the general public arrived - perk of the job. I have a pic of my £10 well spent, I will post it shortly when Mark arrives with the camera.

Anyhow, the sale was from 9am to noon and we were very busy. All the plant we sold were donations that people had grown from seeds or cuttings or splits or in some cases, larger plants that they just didn't want anymore! Prices started from 50p and went up to £5 for larger things.

Now, remember all the plants were donated, the sale was held in a ladies front garden, all proceeds to charity and the sale only lasted, 3 hours........we raised a whopping £1,300 !!!!!!

Mid June is the open garden day in the next village, again raising money for Farleigh, and I have been asked to help with the lunches in the village hall. Fingers crossed we can raise even more money.

Congratulations on a job well done, EJ. Of course you have to have first pick of what's on offer. Those plants come to a good home at least.

Good luck with your do in mid-June. Wish I could be there and donate a few of my surplus.

Here are my bargains. 3 nicotiana pots (2 large plantlets per pot), 3 ivy leaf geraniums, 1 large ivy (now in the snakes tank!), 1 succulent (an aloe of sorts I think), 2 dahlias (no idea of colour or form, but chunky strong plants) and 1 red oriental poppy. Not bad for a tenner!

Great deals EJ! I'd love to find a sale like that. I've been out to many greenhouses in the past few weeks and I can't believe the price of perennials!

Good work, EJ! It seems to me that you did something like this last year, didn't you? It seems that there was a flower in question--a Cistus, I believe.
Anyway-- you really did well for only ten quid.
Good luck later on in June.

WOW Emma, what a great result, well done to all :) ...and didn't you do well for your tenner.
I really wish our village would do something like that as I would love to contribute all the left over plants that I grow from seed. I usually end up giving them away to friends and neighbours.

Good luck for the next sale and here's hoping you top that target of £1,300 :stew1:
