We went out to dinner at our favorite Tex-Mex place tonight....it just happens to be a few blocks away from our favorite thrift store. So we had to stop in and see what new things they had.....didn't we?? I just couldn't resist this birdhouse. The roof is red. back is dark green, one side is silver and the other is yellow. I think it will look really good on a pole in the middle of the garden.
I really like that Toni. Not just your typical run of the mill birdhouse. I'm sure it will look fantastic in your yard. And by the way... what is your fav Tex-Mex place? El Fenix, Don Pablo's, El Chico, Tia's, or none of those? Probably a new one that popped up since I lived in that area.
Our favorite Tex-Mex has been in Dallas since 1969, it's Ojeda's. Randy took me to the original location down on Maple Ave. near Cedar Springs on our first 'sort of' date in 1978. So every year since then we have gone back there for our anniversary. The original location is still on Maple but a few years ago they moved to their own, larger, building. There have been a couple of other locations but they were run by the son's of the founders and the boys just didn't have a head for business, the places closed pretty soon. One of the daughter's of the founders has one just a few blocks north on 121 from CCA. When you come up for the holidays and go to CCA, be sure to make a stop there for lunch or supper.
Quirky, strange - a little weird?? Yes but I love it!!! Anything wacky always attracts my attention. I'd definately find a space in my garden for your birdhouse Toni. :-D
For some reason it reminds me of the boot house from "The Old Lady who Lived in a Shoe". I guarantee you somewhere on this planet someone has built a life lize livable curvy house like this.
A funky birdhouse indeed. I like it! It's certainly out of the ordinary. I'm sure it will look great with all of the colors of your garden.
Great birdhouse Toni, I'm sure the birds will love it as their "new home". It'll look great in your garden too.
Oh yes, I have been to Ojeda's many times. My MIL loved it! I was just listing places that I knew were in that area when I left. Good to know they will be close by when I hit CCA
That wonderful birdhouse makes me think of this little poem; There was a crooked man, And he walked a crooked mile. He found a crooked sixpence, Beside a crooked stile; He bought a crooked cat, Which caught a crooked mouse, And they all lived together, In a little crooked house. You'll let us know if any little crooked gnomes want to move in? Tom
What a bargain! I love thrift stores but rarely have the time to stop. Soon I'll be done working for the season and will have more time to look for some bargains!
