One of the garden clubs I attend has competition floral arrangements, last month's theme was an arrangement depicting a song title, mine was Tea for Two,I am sure some of the older forum members would remember that song. And we have been looking at some lovely china collections,I thought others would like to see my interpretation of Tea for Two and using my favourite china. Some one took the sugar cubes! That is a lovely arrangement. I do not know the song, but one can easily see that you have put a lot of work into this. The china collection--is that a certain brand? It looks fancy and feminine...and the rose theme would appeal to your garden club, I should imagine. Well done. Congrats.
I remember the song (goes to show how old I am ) and I think you did a marvellous job of depicting it with your arrangement. How did you do in the competition? Imagine someone stealing the sugar lumps!!
That is truly lovely, and I love the way you interpreted the song title. Next time, put a little salt on your sugar cubes!
Thanks everyone,I actually won 'Best in Show' and 1st in the catergory..nice to see others appreciate nice things. Sjoerd...the china pattern is'Old English Rose' by Royal Albert',English made of course but they stopped making that design in 1960. They still produce another rose design with yellow roses in it,can be purchased at dept. stores here. Very English of course, lots was seen in New Zealand , being brought out by immigrants in the settlement days. I like the clear proper white colour of the china, have a look around and you will notice that newer china has the 'off' white colour, I think it has something to do with the bone dust which was used. I have over 1500 pieces some I use everyday.I often wish the teacups could talk...imagine the stories they would have heard over afternoon teas and CWA meetings, not forgetting the times they went to the neighbours for a cup of flour, sugar or milk.just to finish the baking. I also have some copy pieces made in Japan, not a touch on the real though Copy on the left ( photo / image / picture from chocolate's Garden )
Thanks for the info, Chocolate. I can see the difference in your two examples above. I am no expert, but it looks like your china might be valuable. Fancy stuff. Nice posting.
I'm not in the least surprised Chocolate that you won Best in Show and 1st in the category too. If I'd been a judge that's exactly what I would have awarded you. Congratulations!!
Chocolate, that was lovely. Royal Albert "old roses" is my favorite pattern in china. The moonlight roses is my favorite color, but I sure don't see that very often.
Thankyou to all.. Yes Carolyn I have one trio of Moonlght Roses, it is lovely Mine was a gift to me,and I treasure the memory. Still being produced I think.
I have several friends who do china painting and I received one bowl as a gift when we were married, but I returned that to the family after the painter passed away. I thought her grandchildren would treasure it better than I ever could. I hope they do anyway. Anyway, the pattern is lovely no matter what you put in the cup, Chocolate!

Hi C. Very nice that and shows your artistic talents very clearly - can remember the repaired R-A cup with the flowers in it you showed us recently. The song Tea for Two well I am 80 next month so know it very well indeed - also loved the pic KK-Ng posted of Doris Day - loved everything she did and still play her CD's now and then - she and Rosemary Clooney amongst so many good singers at that time were really great. That song must have been done at some time or other by just about every singer - probably still is now and then. Royal Albert is all lovely china though a little too modern for my collection - may well have a couple of those yellow Rose patterned cups floating around somewhere though. Syd.
The Old English Rose pattern is almost 100yr old, the one with yellow roses is still being produced but in Indonesia now, so it can not have 'Made in England' on the back. According to some of the marks on my pieces they are nearing the century, there was much more gold around the edge of the older ones.[I like that] Great job KK. showing your skills again!
