Things are beginning to roll-in now. That menas the easy-going days are over until sometime in September. It's all well and good seeding, sowing and cultivating ver...but there comes a point when you have to PICK it...annnnnd process it. It's early days yet, but I've already had the first late night blanching and sealing veg to be frozen-in. Here are a few modest harvest shots. The Capucijner racks bedecked with industerial netting to keep the birds off. The blooms of Runnerbean 'Sunset'. Even if they produced no beans at all, growing this plant would be worth it for the blooms alone. Runnerbeans in the front of the trug...Capucijners in the back. Blueberries are a mainstay for me. I really like them alot and having jam is an absolute must. Half of the bushes were loaded--the other half were frozen top a crisp this spring, along with most of the plums. Blueberries, Courgettes and Kohlrabi. Carrots are a fav of ours too, but we have difficulty growing them without them getting forking deformaties, so these are an alternative: The 'Paris Early Round'. The harvest was not large, but processing it kept us busy 'til deep in the night.
your bounty looks amazing! I love the look of those round carrots...they are so cute! I love our blueberries too and I love to make jam with them and freeze some for later.
It sounds like we are the same when it comes to blueberries. Exactly the same. Those little carrot balls are the sweetest thing you've ever tasted. I popped one out of the ground for a test...went over to the faucet, washed it off and ate it. I was sold right away. :-D yeah!
My son loves blueberries so much that I am worried he will eat each one before I get a chance to make any jam. He loves the raspberries too...I will have to keep an eye on so we can save some for winter. But ...at least he loves berries and isn't addicted to junk.
Well, you did it again. You post photos of your harvests, I get hungry and have to eat something....my gaining weight is all your fault. Seriously tho, everything looks wonderful. What interesting purple bean pods, I just did a google search to find out more about them. That last picture is so colorful.
Hee hee hee...Sorry, Toni. :-D I wish that I could remember the name of those Capucijners in English. It's one of those things that if I heard it, I'd recall it immediately. :-? Hopeless, aren't I?
We love blueberries too. We don't grow them but we bought a lot at Costco and I made 12 half pints of jam and a blueberry pie. I still have half a box that I use out of for my cereal every morning. Your garden sure looks like all of your hard work has paid off. dooley
