I just got a Garden Huckleberry because I wanted to try them. I looked them up and it says it's not a huckleberry but related to the nightshade family? It says on the tag that they are dible but should I take the chance of eating them?

Hi Herbgod, These are safe to eat. I have a seed catalog with them in it. It says " easy to grow, just 75 days to harvest. Use for pie filling, jellies and cobblers. A member of the Nightshade family" there is also a recipe in it for Huckleberry Jelly if you are interested.

Of course, if you are allergic to the nightshade family I wouldn't recommend you eating them, though.

The solanums are edible, I guess.

Like the red/Green show, man's Prayer: "If I have to".

I think I'd rather stuff any of the viburnum family-- Blueberry, amelancher, huckelbarry into my pie hole...

    But thats just me.
