Garden Markers

This is a project that took me 3 weeks. First I rolled clay, then hand cut shapes, let dry for 4 days and fired the veggies. Then painted with acrylics. I'm going to write on the backs of them. I will be able to use them over again or paint over writing for new use. The white markers had to be fired and then glazed and fired again. I can use wax pencils, sharpies or paint. All will come off with nail polish remover.

A garden that deserves such beautiful and imaginative markers must be a very, very special garden! Love the markers!

 

Excellent markers, durable too. How to spruce up the garden even before the veggies are up. Do you make any for flowers?

I love them. They look much better than the aluminum ones I make from pop cans.

Cherylad, what do you do with pop cans?
I'm from the south and I got here as fast as I could. It's soda cans. I came from pop can country.

I checked my mini blinds hoping a least one was ready to be replaced. I use them for shingles on my bird houses as well as markers.

 

Donna... It's Carolyn that makes the markers out of pop cans.
Mini blinds are so cheap these days... less than $5. No need to wait on an old one to break. I installed a new one and had to remove about half the slats to fit the window. I felt like it was Christmas morning!

Donna, sorry I just caught this...

soda pop cans area cheap and durable plant tag. To make I use kitchen shears and carefully cut the top and bottom off of a can, rinse it off if it is sticky, and use a wire hanger (cut off the hanger part and straighten it out with pliers) bend the hanger to the size you want your marker to be and then use a ruler and pencil to score the aluminum the same size, bend and flatten the aluminum to the wire size you made and write on the aluminum with a ball point pen. push it into the ground by your plant.

But I must say, yours are much prettier. mine are functional and durable.
