What are some of your favorite garden poems?

Here's one of mine, by Louise Gluck:

    Hi Jacob,

Welcome here to Garden Stew. That is a nice poem.

One of my favorite garden stories is "The Secret Garden". I read that when I just learning to read as a child.

I have written a few garden poems that have been published. They are not fancy. Here is one:

    The Old Apple Tree

    Last night in a storm
    the ancient apple tree
    in which we delight,
    came down in the night.
    It was a noble tree.
    Children and birds played
    in its cooling shade.
    Fragrant blossoms in spring
    and apples in summer
    were the gifts it gave.
    Last night in a storm
    the old apple tree died.

    c.by Me 2001.

I wrote is an epitaph to one of my last apple trees that died back then. It won an Honorable Mention in a contest. [/u][/b]

That is a wonderful poem. I've always loved the intersection between gardening and poetry. I really think they're very similar passions.
