Like James Brown sang...."I feel good, I knew that I would now" mentally but physically there are parts of me that are hollering something about "silly old ladies should know better" I got in almost 3 hours yesterday morning, weeding, weeding, weeding, planting, moving plants, weeding and did I mention weeding? I cut off the stems of dead Zinnia, leaving the sad but still living stems with buds alone, their leaves are mostly brown but I think that is protection from the drought mode. There are some plants that have just simply disappeared over the summer, don't know if they went dormant, died or took off for a better climate. If they took off, I wish they had thought to ask me to tag along with them. I did find a few blooms, plants that very happy the heat is gone so they can show off again. Plumbago ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Yarrow with summer scorched leaves ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) First of many Hyacinth Bean blooms to open ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Sedum Autumn Joy getting itself ready to showoff ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden )
I'm so pleased that you can get outdoors again Toni. When the weather cools even weeding can seem quite enjoyable can't it? It's good to know that some of your plants survived the drought and I'm sure many more will begin to pop up now that the climate has changed for the better.
So happy the cooler temps have arrived so you can get outside and take control of your yard again! My Plumbago and HBV are almost the only thing I have blooming now too. They sure get a thumbs up for hanging in through the heat and drought!
Hoping everything starts getting greener for you,..but not the weeds of course,..i am pleased for you that cooler days have arrived.
Well Toni, you've had a tough summer there this year, haven't you. But....it ain't over till it's over, right. You still have some nice colour there, and some on the way. This was a good postiung to see.
Glad you are finally out of the furnace down there Toni. What a heat wave! It sure shows how tough and hardy plants can be. Hope you enjoy being in the great outdoors again!

Seeds and soil, only respond well when it is given proper attention - So on this account, Toni has scored a full 10 out of 10!
