I love this flower? Does anyone know what it is or recognize it? It is a Gazania. Sorry if I spelled it wrong. It is just an annual here so I buy it every spring for baskets and planting in the ground. One drawback is the rabbits love them too. I can't find my picture of the striped one that is my favorite. They are pretty hardy here in zone 4 and they come in many colors. So they aim to please everyone...the 3rd picture has a marigold with it.. Look close at the pictures, I found some striped ones, yellow and a stripe... :-D

Since you asked the question "Does anyone know what it is or recognize it?" One of the mods moved it to the Plant ID forum.

I didn't have any in my gardens this year (not sure why...just got "forgotten" this year I guess!). They were very drought tolerant and cheery so I'll have to remember them next year. Nice pictures Sherry! I don't remember ever having any pink ones...they are pretty.

I am also a Gazania lover

(I posted some piccies in the Flowers in October topic under FLower Gardening) I just love the way they open up their faces to the sun and the way they can cheer me up when I feel glum.

Lovely colours you have - My want list is growing...

    Barb,

My gazanias do not get as big as the Gerber daisy. I have never had them but when I have seen them in other peoples gardens, they are longer stemmed. Maybe that is because the rabbits keep munching them down. But I plant them every year in baskets (they can't reach those) and the birds love the seeds. The little finches are playing in them all the time. I am sure they could grow bigger,it all depends on the conditions.

I had them in the flower boxes at my store this summer. They did well. I think I'll add more of them next year. I cant tell you how many tourists took pictures of them.

I had them all over the yard and in hanging baskets but the place where they really lasted late into the season is by the front door. They were a little more protected. I couldn't believe the rabbit didn't find them before the frost hit them...I am glad to see more of them at the nurseries in the spring than ever before...I always had to go to the nursery every day to check if they were in and then I would buy a couple flats of them just to make sure I had enough of them...

Thank you for posting the pictures...
