Last night when I got done with work DR said we could go to eat anywhere I wanted to go. Well, I couldn't think where I wanted to go so we came home. I made beef stroganoff. DR said he would take me to breakfast this morning since I cooked last night. We went to the buffet place. There is a man there who cooks omelets to order. I had ham, green peppers, mushrooms and cheese. DR had chorizo and cheese. When we left, I told him that I wanted to stop at WalMart and look at plants. He was just there yesterday and said they didn't have much. We stopped anyway and they didn't have much. But, I found some geraniums. They didn't look like much either. There were quite a few brown leaves but the plants looked like the stems and a lot of leaves were healthy. I think they weren't watered properly during the hot weather. So, I looked to see the price and there was a red half price sticker on them. They were in big pots marked 3.52 to I had to pay 1.76 for each. I bought six of them. Dr found something to buy too. There were some planters planted with a mix of plants. One had these purple flowers with white impatients and some verbana. The verbana didn't look so hot but the other looked good. I'll have him take some pictures tomorrow. I forget what they are called. They were marked 17.99 and they were half price too. He bought them. I planted the geraniums this afternoon. I gave them some time released plant food. Tonight it rained so that will help them settle. Dooley

Its great when you get a half dead plant for half price, then nurture it back to life.
I went to B and Q and found a bleeding heart ( almost dead) for 99p, i took it home and fed and watered it, it has grown into a lovely litle bush and has even had 3 flowers on it, im sure next year it will be lovely.

I buy lots of plants from the 'save and rescue' sections of garden centres and most of them do really well with a bit of TLC. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your geraniums Dooley. :-D

The purple flowers in the planter that DR bought are called "Angelonis" 'Serena Purple". I don't think I have had any of these before. It says SUN but they are with impatients which are a shade plant. I put them where they will get afternoon sun. Dooley

Three of them went into pots. The other three went in that little bed by the front gate. I have the planter on the railroad tie by the front yard patio. One pot of geraniums is by the in works project fountain/waterfall. The other two pots are under the front window. They will probably all be moved around as I see how they grow. Dooley
