Great story cajuncap! That bloom is beautiful. It continues to surprise me to see "houseplants" growing out in the garden in warmer climates! I'm a pretty parochial ole gal I guess.

I have an amaryllis in my basement. I am withholding water & sun in the hope it will go dormant & rest. It is getting quite late in the season for resting though. Poor thing is as green as ever. I may just plant it outside come spring & see what happens.

I loved your story about your wife's relatives. They sound like interesting people. I was born near Niagara Falls, so I know that part of the country. I am not surprised they have relocated to FL!
