Me and my DD and grand-Daughter are all going down to Jackpot, Nv. for 2 days. The main reason is so the grand-daughter can visit with her father. He works there. Of course we will do a little gambling, lots of eating, and stop in Twin Falls to do some school clothes shopping. If there's a good sale I want to pick DGD up a nice formal for Junior prom. It should be much cheaper this time of year. I'm excited!

Have a really great time in Jackpot 2ofus and enjoy your time with you daughter and granddaughter. You must let us see the prom outfit you buy if you find a lovely one at a good price.

Ohhh, have a great time in Nevada. Twin Falls is a cute town, I visited a friend there back in March 2002, beautiful.

We made it home safely AND even had some money left! DGD had a nice visit with her father, We did do a lot of gambling but, to be honest, there's not much else to do in Jackpot! Each casino has a small gift store but the prices are outrageous, of course. We stayed in the largest casino and quickly found out that the food was cooked and served mainly for looks, not taste! We then found that another casino had fantastic food at reasonable prices so we ate well anyway. Probably too well! We stopped on the way home and did all the school shopping for DGD but wasn't able to find a prom dress for her. We not only found her clothes (a lot were on sale :)) but also all her school supplies and, I was shocked over the lists each teacher had for her! Specific kinds of note books, a certain type of calculator, and more. Just to get her started, the supplies were over $100! I was really happy to get back home and just rest! Today it's back to work. The garden didn't stop producing so I have some canning and freezing to do right away. Meanwhile the flower beds need tending BADLY! My days need to be longer!

Gosh I didn't realise just how expensive it is nowadays to kit a child out for school!! What a pity you couldn't find a prom dress though.
Isn't it nice to go away but even better to get home again and recover from the break? We're off on holiday next Saturday so are trying to get the garden into some sort of order before we go. Any bets the weeds will have taken over when we get back a week later though.

Getting away is so nice to do. We have a free night hotel room available through one of the frequent traveler plans, so sometime in Sept we are going to hide away from the world for a couple of nights.

Cost of school supplies is ridiculous and some of the specific requirements handed out by teachers just couldn't be found in stores so the parents started complaining to the school board back when my oldest was in school. Teachers had to be more reasonable about their requirements in a lot in order to keep the school board off their backs. Some of the calculators they required were well over $100 alone.
