I sure am glad to find other gardeners that enjoy photography. Two of my favorite things in one place. :-D I mostly do "macro" photography, but every once in awhile i will get out the 500mm and shoot some birds and wildlife. If y'all don't mind...I will post up a couple of my images. Female Northern Cardinal Northern Cardinal female Viceroy butterfly Viceroy Butterfly
Nice pictures,..very clear!,..i would give a 1st to the Cardinal,..she really stands out. I am always with camera in hand and love to capture anything i see that i feel others would be interested in seeing,..but can never figure out if i should use flash when using "macro",..i feel flash takes from the true colour,..but i see you used flash with the Butterfly shot,..you use a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi,..is that correct. Philip
Hi Deep Woods... and welcome to the Stew! If you were looking for a place to show off nature photos... you've found the right place! One of the things I like most about this forum is that all photos are welcome... from the not-so-perfect to the National Geographic-quality shots! Both of your photos are simply wonderful! Can't wait to see more.
Thanks y'all!! Phillip...I did use fill flash on the butterfly to help the colors 'pop'. yes I am shooting a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi..most all of my macro shots are with my Sigma 150mm f/2.8 APO DG HSM Macro lens and I use a Canon 430EX Speedlite flash. Thanks again!
Thank's for the response,..i must try some other settings when using macro and flash,..i always assumed the colours shouldn't diminish using the flash,..so i guess its my bad setting,..i use a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55,..its pocket size,..not a bad camera,..but not very elaborate.
Welcome to the Stew, Deep Woods, from the coast of north-western Norway. I am so looking forward to seeing more of your photos when you have time to share them. (I have to get myself a better camera!)
It's lovely to have you here at GardenStew DeepWoods. Welcome from Scotland in the UK. Your photographs are outstanding and I hope you'll be posting many for us in the near future.
Greetings from Tennessee. Two of my favorite things...gardens and photography. Welcome to the Stew. :-D
