Hi y'all! This is Heather,Glenda's daughter. I had to bring Mama to the ER on Wednesday afternoon. She had been asleep all day and I had gone to check on her and the second time I. Went, I made her wake up and talk to me and she wasn't making any sense so my husband and I drove her up to the hospital her blood pressure was 77/45 when she first got here. They discovered she was septic due to a urinary tract infection. She never had any of the usual symptoms of a UTI.She was also severely dehydrated and anemic.
They gave her 2 units of blood and tons of fluid. They are trying to figure out why she is losing her blood so they did a endoscopy to look at her esophagus and stomach. All they found was a tiny ulcer so that wouldn't be the cause of the blood loss. So now we wait to see if her medical insurance will pay for a new test where they put a small camera in a capsule and they can see her entire digestive tract and try to figure out what is going on.

I will try to keep y'all updated on everything. If she wouldn't have let me take her to the hospital, she would have passed away. Please keep her in your prayers.

Oh, Heather very glad you were there to get her to the hospital. Tell all of GardenStew is wishing her a speedy recovery. Give her a hug from me and remind her that she has better things to do than lie around in the hospital so get well and out of there.

Shocking Heather, but thank you so much for letting us know.
I am very sorry to hear that Glenda is in the hospital. It seems as though they think that her blood loss must be in the intestinal tract...I suppose that they are looking at the other possibilities as well though.
It is difficult to get a clear picture with her most acute probs in the forefront of attention. Perhaps once they get her rehydrated and the UTI under control-- any masking that may be going on will be lifted and the way will be open to discovering the true etiology of her anaemia.

Well, this is disturbing news, but I have to be optimistic that Glenda can be brought back to good health there in the hospital.

It sounds as though her acute UTI may be up high in her tract, have they shed any light on her infection?

Well Heather, do keep us informed please.

I'm so glad that Glenda was with you when she fell so ill Heather. I'd hate to even imagine what would have happened if she had been on her own. I hope they can find out the reason for the blood loss and why she became so poorly so fast. Tell her we're all rooting for her and give her an extra special hug from me please.

Yes Heather, thank you for informing us about the situation. By the way, it was indeed fortunate that you reached her in time. So I'd consider that lucky. Therefore if we take this as the trend, then I am sure the luck will continue.
