Due to yesterday's gardening accident with the pruners, trip to the emergency room, and seven stitches in my finger, :( I am curious about the use of gloves when gardening. I don't like to wear them - my husband claims if I had I wouldn't have had the aforementioned incident.

I posted yes always but it really depends on what Im doing out there. If Im working with my roses, yes I always wear my heavy duty leather gloves. If Im just planting little of this and that, then no. If Im weeding yes. It really depends on what Im doing.

If Im working with shears, pruners or scissors, I will always wear my leather gloves.

Sorry to hear about the finger. I must have missed that.

I wear gloves 99% of the time. The only time I don't is when I get out there looking and a weed shows up or something needs changed and I don't want to go in or out again.

Rarely do I wear gloves, not even in amongst the roses & blackberries. Only time I do is when I'm pruning the blackberries. Can't pick them with the gloves on.

I wear them to weed since I stuck something in my finger and it stayed sore for day, plus we have hog thistles and they are very thorny. DH says if there was a market for hog thistles we would get rich. Other than that I rarely wear them.

I had to say "sometimes", as I do not wear gloves 99% of the time, but there is a time for it.

Ever own barberries? Then you own gloves. ;)

I always wear gloves, the only exception being when I plant tiny seedlings. Dirt is very drying to your hands. My husband grabbed my hand the other day and said, "So soft!" That's what gloves do. 8)

Had to say No. Like to work with my hands and feel it. That's part of the gardening fun :) . That's what I tell hubby when I hurt myself  . To feel is to love :D. When I'm painting sometimes I use my fingers. I do eat with utensils :p

I nearly always wear my gloves, I have pairs of them scattered about so there's always one somewhat handy. I like the lightweight ones dipped in neoprene and have leather ones for when I need to do something thorny.

I am very sorry to hear about your finger! May it heal quickly and cleanly so you can be out in the dirt again soon.
