Since self-isolation and social distancing is now the 'in' thing to do I've taken to walking just beyond the backyard fence.....There is one main path on the border of the area however once off the beaten path we quickly turn into this This log must've been down for quite sometimes for fungus to start growing on it Bark of madronna trees never fails to fascinate Best I could get with the camera

I love madronas. We have an ancient one in the neighborhood that has to be many hundreds of years old. It is amazingly hard/dense the wood is and beautiful when made into something. We have a 50s lamp that was turned so that you can see the differing colors of the tree rings. The only grow fairly close to the Sound/ocean.
