    Hi Everyone!

Since I hang out at the pond (a lot  ) watching the frogs, although nice, were kind of boring. So I bought 20 "feeder goldfish". They are about 1-2 inches long. I liked them so much I bought 20 more. I've been watching them and they SEEM to be eating stuff off the sides and bottom. I've tried to throw in tropical fish flakes but they ignore them.

    Does anyone have suggestions?

If I had a pond I'd be there a lot too!

I don't know about what goldfish do in ponds, but in the fish tank you have to be careful to not overfeed them (creates bad water quality cause they eat too much and then poop too much). They'll eat a lot so I'm thinking maybe the stuff on the sides and bottom are enough for them to feast on?

They seem happy enough. I was afraid they might be starving. The first group of 20 has been there for over a week. The second group I got Sunday. I love to go out to the pond at night and shine the flashlight into the water and watch what they (and other things) are doing. My neighbor must think I've totally lost my mind :D

Hey, there were only 10 cents each. Think of all the fun I am having for 4 dollars......

If your goldfish are getting enough to eat from your pond they won't be interested in store bought. It won't take long for them to be interested in food you give them. When the fish or mosquitos are laying eggs they have no desire for store bought food. Check the internet for water temp also. Water temp determines whether the fish will eat and how much. Have fun! They will soon be trained to come for food when you go out to watch them.

Aw goldfish! For the low price you pay they can actually be quite fun :) I had 2 when I was younger... generally I only fed them once or twice a day, didn't want to overfeed and make them fat :)
