we have had some incredibly wet weather over the past few weeks. 3 weeks ago I put the 3rd tire tier on the potatoes. In the past the leaves popped right back out of the soil and grew and grew. This time no growth at all. I decided this morning to pull off the third tire and see what was going on. there was absolutely nothing in there. Everything had rotted and disappeared! :'( Will all the potatoes growing in the bottom tire grow? or will they die as well? I am so sad about this. Everything likes rain...except potatoes. :'(

    This is tragic news.
I sure hope that you will be able to salvage some of the spuds.
Yeah too much wet and the spuds shrink-away...and sometimes rot.
    Fingers crossed for you.

Well G'mama--I earth-up my spuds too...but perhaps you just earthed them up TOO much. Is that possible?

I'm really hoping that there will be some taters at the bottom.

I was thinking the same thing as Sjoerd,,maybe you planted to deep. I know with mine i just cover a few inches or cm of dirt over them, and they come up even when we have weeks upon weeks of rain or cold weather everyday. It also lets them "breath" so to speak. I rarely get any that rot that way.
