I've not been away that long and yet you've all managed to post 346 messages and 11 blog entries!!!!!

Well our trip was much better than the last one and the hotel was lovely - set in 45 acres of grounds with the River Nith flowing through them.

Here are a few piccies for you all.

This is where we were staying. It was once a priory and then was owned by the Post office. Now a private hotel.

I thought the front door was amazing:

Very posh eh? We got a great deal £40 a night including breakfast!!!

The weather was bitterly cold but it stayed dry until we were about to leave then it began to snow.

There are more piccies in the wildlife forum and members gallery if you want to have a look. :-D

Oh, my goodness. Not sure what 40pounds converts to in American dollars, but that was a good deal. And such a charming location too. The only view we get from our favorite once a month getaway hotel is the highway and a construction site.

Glad you had a good time.

    Toni £40 = $78, quite a bargain.

Welcome back Eils, glad to hear you had a better trip this time around than the last time. Sorry we gave you so much to read upon your return ;)

The river looks great, off to view your other pics.

What a wonderful room you stayed in .Just so posh. That chandelier is absolutely gorgeous. The river looks so inviting but I bet it would be a cold stroll around it.

welcome back, Eileen. We missed you. I echo Glenda. You got to act rich!! And except when I stayed at Imperial College in London or London School of Economics, those are the best prices I've seen. I'm off to see the other pics.

What a lovely old building! Were there any resident spirits? LOL I agree that the front door looks amazing Eileen. Did they have any gardens?

Netty they didn't have any formal gardens but did have plenty of snowdrops and daffodil bulbs spread around under the trees. They also had rhododendrons scattered about and other shrubs but the whole 45 acres was mainly informal tree planting.

How lovely! I could definitely enjoy a nice long stay in such comfortable surroundings.
Judging by the photos, you had some nice clear weather, too.

I saw beds like that when we visited the Vanderbilt mansion in upstate New York. They are some cool! I love the place. If I could just drive there. Dooley

Beautiful old building and I love the front doorand the hardware on it. Doesn't look like anyone would get through without permission with that heavy door.

They actually let people sleep in that bed, very beautiful. And I love the door too.
