I read this in Mother earth. Someone had an older home with mice in the walls. One day they were talking and the person told them about what her grandmother had done to get rid of mice in her house. She would take cotton balls and soak them in Peppermint oil in the area she was having mouse problems. So the lady went home a placed some cotton balls soaked in Peppermint oil and scattered them around her kitchen floor. She also took off some of the electrical plates and tucked a cotton ball down the sides of them. But be careful not to get electrocuted. Within 24 hours there was no sound of mice. They were gone. I'm going to try that in our garage to keep those little varmints from coming into our place. :stew1:

Someone had told me the chipmunks didn't like spearmint gum (the smell) and I put some sticks in the holes and they actually just threw them out of the hole. The little stinkers....

I will try this in the garage too...the little things like to come in out of the cold in the fall.

As soon as I get hold of more peppermint oil, I will try it too... I usually put glue traps around, and of course my cats are indoors. We have a new kitty at our house, she is my DIL's cat. :stew1:

This is very timely! We have been battling a mouse in our kitchen over the last week. Set a few traps, but nothing so far. If I thought it would just go
back outside, I wouldn't mind. I'm finding mouse poo
everywhere in the kitchen - even inside the skillets
that I store in the oven! Yucko.

Jerry how do you plan on catching that mouse so it will still be alive to try your experiment. Kind of sounds like a mad scientist at work.

Sherry8 I had a good laugh at that one. When we had a woodchuck digging holes under are horse stalls I put rat poison sticks down the holes. The next morning they too where just thrown out of their holes.

Songofjoy57 when I read it I thought it was to good of info not to share.

eileen looking forward to your report on how it worked for you.

cuatro-gatos hope you get that little varmint. I hate mice in my house. You mentioning the mouse trap reminds me of the funny move Mouse Hunt.

AAnightowl you'll have to let us know how well it works for you. I to hate too find mouse poop anywhere in my home. But inside your pots and pans Yucko for sure.
