The dentist said itd be a good idea because I have Periodontal Disease back there. So, out they had to come! I was awake for it all because only an Oral Surgeon can put you under, but theyre more expensive.

When I went in, they gave me a shot to numb me up. After waiting, my right side was numb but my left still had plenty of feeling. So they gave me another shot. That was better. They started on the right while waiting for th eleft to numb. The nurse cleaned the areas that were diseased, then she moved to the left side which was numb by then. Then the doc came in with these huge pliers
It wasnt at all painful, but it was very uncomfortable... for awhile there I thought he was going to break my jaw!
The bottom left tooth was the hardest, it had long roots and just did not want to come out! He also had to inject numbing stuff a 3rd time for that one because it was very sensitive.
They finally got all 3 teeth out...
Afterwards the doc asked if it had been hard to get the missing tooth out and I told him (Im surprised he understood me with my mouth full of gauze) that I had never had a 4th tooth...I was special *lol*

Right now my jaw still aches, but Im not really in pain. Ive got my jaw stuffed with gauze so I guess maybe the pressure helps. They gave me Vicoden Extra Strength for the pain. I told them regular Vicoden doesnt work for me but they said the ES should. Im thirsty and hungry but cant do anything about it til I stop bleeding *sigh*

They let me keep the teeth :) Id post a pic, but Im not sure how many of you are squeamish *lol* and I dont have one right now anyways :p[/i]

Oh, gee, thanks, but we don't need to see your extracted teeth!
I hope you stay pain-free, and wish I could send you some homemade tapioca, chicken broth, or calves' foot jelly (a Victorian cure-all).
Take care of yourself, take it easy, and don't try to eat a steak for a couple of days.

At the age of 15 I had all four wisdom teeth taken out. They'd not only grown in early but, when they did, they were weak and chalky. In those days I didn't get an anaesthetic and, yes, it did hurt.

I'm so glad your extractions went well Jen and I hope you remain pain free and that your gums heal quickly. At least you'll never have to worry about getting toothache in any wisdom teeth now. ;)

Calves' foot jelly is an aspic made from the hooves of calves. A calf's hoof has more of the gelatinous material than an older cow's hooves contain, and the jelly made from the calf's foot was supposedly easy to digest and nutritious for those recovering from various illnesses.

Sure hope you heal quickly and as pain free as possible. Chicken soup and warm tea with honey in it. I had mine out when I was 18 (years and years ago. lol!) but I was a chicken and just had them knock me out cold. Do they still have you rinse with warm salt water? Just curious if things have changes in those many years.

Hope you get better fast. One of my long time customer is a dentist office. Removed tooth other day while we was there. Guy could hardly walk. Infection had gotten in ear also.He swabs area where giving shot-so don't feel it. Afterwards -I heard him tell guy if his other teeth get that bad to come in sooner.
