The male Gold Finch's have changed back to their bright yellow plumage. It's nice to see a bright flash of color go darting across the yard and land on the feeder. This morning their are Gold Finches and House Finches at the feeder. Yesterday we had some light rain and there were a few Robins in the yard stomping for their worms.
Our Goldfinches have coloured up for the breeding season too - so much brighter than their winter plumage.
Around here, they recommend putting out thistle seeds for them. But the way they eat, that can be very expensive! Mine have to settle for black oil sunflower seeds. And they seem to have no problem with them. There are always 10 to 20 of them hanging on the feeder!
