The other day when I was in the feed store, they were giving away all the plants that had not yet sold. One guy in there said he would bring his truck and take all of them, and the worker told him to go ahead and take them. I told him to save me some. ;) I got a few, and took them home. When I mentioned them to my company, they wanted some too, so we went back there and got more. I picked up some for a friend who couldnt get to town also.

I got about 11 sweet tater plants, two mints, a bunch of petunias, some impatiens, bell peppers, a crookneck squash plant, a red tomato plant, and perhaps some others ? I got them all planted, even re-dug one of the raised beds in my garden. I sure hope my horses do not eat them!

Right place, right time, free is always a nice price. Lets hope the horses stay away.

What a find! The guys at the feed store should be commended for giving away the plants instead of just chucking them in the trash.
I'm glad yours went to a good home. Stick some rose canes or briars over the new plants--horses have tender lips!

I will try and get some pics this weekend and post them. Gotta keep an eye on those horses. :stew1: Thanks for the idea of putting some stickery stuff over them. I did plant some garlic that I missed in with my sweet taters. My horses do not seem to like anything garlicky or oniony. ;)
