I started deadheading the Stella de Oro lillys this morning. I started at 7 am while it was still cool. Just got done at 8:30. Now hopefully I will get some more blooms. While I was doing that, I took a short break and was watching all the birds flying around the yard. That's when I realised that my my lawn mowing buddies, the Eastern Flycathers didn't come back this year. They used to swoop and dive in front of the mower getting the bugs that it scared up. More than once I was sure that I had mowed over one, but they always made it away just in time. I will certainly miss their entertaing flying this summer. I will just hope they come back next year. They have been here every year for about 10 years!

I have a lot of stellas to deadhead if your not doing anything.... the birds here in Wisconsin are the barn and tree swallows that swoop in front of you when mowing. They just did it when I mowed over the weekend....and I recognize them because I have had them nesting in the yard. Sometimes it seems like they are going to hit you as they fly around.

I hope you get your birds....I am waiting for the larger butterflys, I have only had a couple that I noticed fly through the yard. Of course with all the flowers I could have missed them.
