Where the ground is bare from snow melt.I watered few places.Neighbors can't see me across the field. Think I'm flower crazy anyway.

Don't tell anyone but in the dead of winter when it was warm and I saw that certain PJM Rhododendrons were dry(leaves still stayed curled after it warmed up) I would water them. After watering they would recover.

So you all don't usually have to water year 'round do you? I don't have to water as often in the winter as summer but usually at 2-3 times a month.

I hardly ever have to water any of the plants in my garden. Coming from Scotland we have rain most days and even when the sun comes out the temperatures hardly ever reach a peak where watering is essential. At most I water once a year!!

We have been going from extreme weather. Blizzard ,freezing rain. Then record highs for Jan. 90% of snow is melted. Now cold and windy. With moisture in ground plants will not up heave . That is what kills lot of plants here in Iowa.

Wow! It has never occurred to me to check plants in winter. Hmmmm....maybe that is why I lost that Cap. Rohodie last year.

Before it got cold again. I shoveled some of the snow on some flowers. One bed has snow fence to the north. So the drifts was high there. and didn't all melt. But got 3 big watering cans ready+ heavy coat, boots and stocking hat.
