Wow, there are so many plants we consider bad weeds that we can turn into a healthy delicious meal. How about Burdock root ,plantain, and many others. Our yards are varitable vitamin and mineral gold mines. What pollen is better for you than Bee Pollen?

Boy, I wish Biita was still active on GS she was a forager and cooked most of the meals for her and her hubby from foraged plants and fruits. You two could spend hours comparing notes and recipes.

She called Dandelions Dinner and a Drink

I tossed some purslane into a salad, and my husband didn't divorce me (at least I don't think he did, since he hasn't said a word to me since that salad).

Yup Toni that would be neat if she was still on GS. Carolyn I have a book titled; Identifying and Harvesting Edible and Medicinal Plants. Has so much great info. Jerry I will have to look that one up. Ohh so sad poor lamb. I'm just kidding. ;) I better stop that as I'm feeling rather sheepish. :D Marlingardner maybe it made his tongue numb or he loved the salad so much he doesn't have the words to express how good it was. ;) Thanks all.

How do you know what is OK to eat? Is there a website with pictures?

Hummmmm CoolAsACucumber. That is a good question. I have a book I listed in one of the above replies so I know what is safe to eat and what isn't. I'll have to do a search and see what turns up. Thanks for asking. :stew1:

My parakeets & lovebird love dandelion & plantain greens. Very nutritious for them too. Good thing we have a never-ending supply.

Karrma I will have to check out those recipes. We have tons of burdock. I can send you some seeds. :-D

Cayuga Morning: Sounds like you and your birds will be getting your daily dose of greens and vitamins to boot. Animals usually know what's good to eat unlike us humans. ;)
