The American Legion Post that I belong to is having a Hog Roast tomorrow. So I have to go in today and make 50 pounds of cole slaw today. It's all you can eat, pork sandwiches, baked beans and cole slaw, plus drink for $7 per person!
50 lbs of cold slaw!!!! Blimey that's a heck of a lot. Hope the hog roast goes well for you all tomorrow. Any chance of a few piccies? :-D
I will be there with my camera. We finally got the slaw made.We gad ordered tha cabbage and carrots, pre grated last Fri. from the local grocery. Went to pick it up and they had forgotten to order it. They gave us what they had and then grated up additionsl. Since they screwed up, they didn't charge us for it. We only had to pay for the onions, celery, peppers and spices which only came to $36. It usually costs us about $75 for the slaw. We are exoecting a good turnout. We have 500 hamburger buns ready! One of our members is doing the pork. The last time we used a different guy and he was pretty expensive. He is only charging us for the cost of the pork and is throwing in his labor for free since he is a member of the post. So our cost is about $300 cheaper than the last one for the same amount of meat. I'll let you all know how it turns out!
WooHoo,CK!! Hope you're having great weather and a HUGE turnout today, in short, A VERY successful event!
The roast Piggy was exelent! And for all of you people who couldn't make it there, here is what you missed! It would normally come on a hamburger bun, but I got ours to go so we could heat it up after I got home. I got there when they first started serving so there wasn't many there only about 30. But it runs until 7:30 pm so I'm sure they will sell out. We had enough to serve 500 people! At all you can eat for $7 it's a real bargain!
The cold slaw looks great - much better than shop bought any day!!! Looking forward to hearing if you sold out. :-D
I got the numbers this morning. We made about $1500 on the Hog roast and after expences cleared about $1000. Not bad for a days work!
