Wow! I looked at the gallery and had no idea how many great things you could make out of gourds! Are any of those masterpieces yours?
Hopefully I have better luck growing some gourds next season.

Oh, my, that canteen(is it a canteen?) is absolutely adorable! And the egyptian vase took my breath away completely. So this is what it looks like when professionals do it. I'm awestruck.

Thanks so much for this site. We're definitely going to grow more gourds next year. Our nest egg gourds did well this year. You and your Hubbies gourds are just beautiful. Very Inspiring! 8)

    canteen gourd

    Hi Droopy,
Yes the butterfly on a flower is a canteen gourd, but it's actually made into a purse. My husband carved the flowers and butterfly on the front and painted it. I cut it in half, lined it with hand-made paper, added hinges and a strap, and voila!
We gave it to my sister-in-law as a gift.
Now everyone else in the family wants one.

    Catherine

Well, Catherine, I can't say I blame them! It's nearing Christmas, and those would make lovely presents.
