I actually have a few plants I need ID'ed. The first is a pretty grassy looking plant that grows along the house. There are pink and lavender flowers, and long grassy leaves. ( photo / image / picture from Mrs. Hankshaw's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Mrs. Hankshaw's Garden ) The second one is growing out by the driveway. It's got pink cluster flowers. ( photo / image / picture from Mrs. Hankshaw's Garden ) The third is an unlabeled plant I bought from lowes. It's got green and pink leaves with small purple flowers. ( photo / image / picture from Mrs. Hankshaw's Garden ) Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
Plants #1 & #2 remind me of Mexican Petunia. But I'm not positive about that. However... plant #4 is called a Polka Dot Plant (Hypoestes phyllostachya).
The first two are Ruellia brittoniana (Mexican Petunia) either the tall ones or clumping ones, I can't tell by the photos. Off hand I don't recognize the third one. The last one is Hypoestes phyllostachya (Polka Dot Plant) Shouldn't be too long before someone ID's the third one for you
Flowers on the second one look similar to verbena, but its been so long since I have seen one I can`t remember what the leaves on them look like.
I'm pretty sure it's not verbena. The flowers do look like verbena but the leaves are curly looking on verbena and the ones on this are smooth and even.
I think the 3rd photo is Phlox, but it is hard to see the foliage. Is it this? Phlox paniculata (Garden Phlox, Perennial Phlox)
I'm pretty sure it is a type of Phlox. I've googled it and found a few pics that look very similar to mine. The leaves are alot closer than the verbena. I like them alot, I'm going to plant more of them now that I know what they are.
My phlox looks nothing like that one. Flowers are similar but leaves on mine are long and slender and not arranged the same. Of course mine are the giant phlox. Maybe a smaller variety? I only have the big ones. Wonder if this plant has a fragrance like phlox do?
I noticed the leaves aren't exactly like the ones I've seen in pictures also, but they grow the same way and they are very similar. The fragrance reminds me of honeysuckle, they smell very good.
Might be a type of phlox I guess. Mine are very fragrant in spring. Have a very sweet smell similar to honeysuckle.
