Today, while working outside, I noticed 3 hummingbirds quarreling over the black & blue salvia. I decided to stand & lean on a porch post and just wait. I caught this one )first 2 shots) and got pretty close & pretty clear shots of him (I think it's male). Then, I put a chair on the other side of the salvia & was still & waited. Shortly, a female (I think) showed up and I began snapping pictures. She became aware of me and inched closer to me every time she heard the camera go off. This third shot is the best hummingbird shot I've ever gotten!

I am very impressed. She looks so big! We haven't got hummingbirds here, but I wish we did. They are lovely.

I am so jealous! I've been trying to get shots of my Hummers since the Lilac's bloomed at the end of May! My Black and Blue Salvia is sending up the first buds...maybe THEN I'll finally get a good shot. Those are fabulous!
