Great red coral fungi.

    Took some pictures of this red coral fungi today. It comes in red like this and then fades with age. My previous images were taken when it was a little older and were more pinky colour. Red Coral Mushroom, Ramaria araiospora Some fungi turn red with age but this starts out that colour.

    I can clearly see how the fungi got its name.It really does look like coral doesn't it? What a lovely thing it is and must stand out at this time of year.

    OOOh Kildale that is just to beautiful looking. My Mom and I use to love to go searching for neat fungi in the fall in the oak woods near her home. Again that is a really neat pic. Thanks for sharing it, :stew1:

    With three new ones yesterday to add to the fungi page, I have 200 species now in the web site.There are over 800 species in the area so I have a few more to go yet.

    Beautiful!,..you would expect it to be coral like in texture,..and growing underwater.

    There are a few of these coral mushrooms in the area, most are whitish or cream coloured.
