With all the opinions I can get on here, what would be a good flowering low ground cover that would grow fast and work in partial shade? Thanks for your help.

Does Portulaca/Moss Rose do well in your area?

Depends on how much control you want over the plants. I use periwinkle, wintergreen and pachysandra. Each varies in its ability to cover and to be controlled. What kind of area are we talking about?

The area is mostly shade, some sun in the afternoon. Don't have any grass there either.

I use Lamium as a groundcover sometimes under trees. It does alright in partial shade.

Are you looking for a perennial or an annual? if nothing is growing there now, not even weeds, check your soil Ph first. What is making the shade? If you have any black walnuts, give up before you even spend one dime on this project. Nothing you do will help if there is any juglone in the soil.

    For perennials:
    sweet woodruff
    vinca minor (periwinkle)
    pachysandra
ajuga ( grows great, but this is invasive)
    snow on the mountain
"walk on me" series- euoymous this is a very tiny(leaf) low growing perennial.( PM I'll send you some starts if you are interested). I can post a pic of it also.
    ferns

    Annuals:
    impatiens
    coleus
    begonias
    ferns/annual

carolyn, it does grow some weeds, no walnuts. I was just on-line looking at the "walk on me". If you'd send me a start I'd be so happy to pay postage. It said that it grows fast and that's what I want. Thank You So Much! Jeanie

Hey Jeanie, I didn't find it to be extremely fast growing, but once it finally got established it got really thick. If it was really fast growing it would be invasive  and this is not. But I'll send you a big chunk of it. take some wire pins (if you don't have anything suitable improvise with a clothes hanger cut into 6" lengths and bend them in 1/2) and pin it down as soon as you get it. and give it a drink to water it in.It is pretty durable.
