Yellow or golden passionfruit come up in my yard from time to time, brought in by birds and sprout where I can't water them. They do however fruit if we recieve a good rainfall. They climb up and over native trees and bushes.

I've been gifted a few seedlings and am limited to where our water will reach. Realising they need somewhere to climb, can anyone see any problems if I plant them under a red mulberry tree...making it the trellis?

The mulberry tree fruits profusely around September (Australia). I have no idea when passionfruit fruit, that being the only complication I can foresee. Picking both at one time, maybe a problem, or may not be?

Hi, you will have to decide one or the other, passionfruit are thick and heavy when cultivated properly, I would choose the mulberry, because you already have passionfruit.

    Chocolate I think you're right (again) :stew2:

I've been thinking, even if I wasn't going to cultivate it properly, it would be a mighty task picking the mulberries...it's already awkward because of the position the tree is in, on a sloping bank.

I cut it back heavily every year, but it still bounces back and provides heaps of fruit. Getting to them through a passionfruit vine would be very difficult.
