or as you lovely Americans call it - FALL - because all I have been doing this week at work is raking up fallen leaves! At least I am getting paid for it, but every garden I visit, it is the same request, 'rake the leaves please'. My arms, neck and in between my shoulders aches like mad! Mind you, as a little reward, a lovely lady today made me a big mug of hot coffee and I enjoyed several of her home made choccy chip cookies - delicious on such a cold frosty afternoon. I wouldn't mind, but half the trees around here are still in full leaf and the willow in my garden is still completely green!
The reason why we call it Fall, is that the leaves FALL to the ground, and after you finally get them all raked up, you are ready to FALL into bed!
I love the watch the leaves fall - but don't like to rake. We don't have many trees at our house so I haven't had much raking to do - just under the apple trees in the back yard. Cleaning up the rotten apples is much worse than raking the leaves.
Sounds as though you need a long, hot, relaxing soak in the bath EJ. Just as well you're getting paid for doing it as I know it can be a thankless task for most people at this time of year. I rake all the fallen leaves in the garden into my flower beds as they make an excellent mulch and it saves me having to actually clear them all up - I get a bit lazy at this time of year.
I would hate to have the job raking yards my least favorite thing to do.The pine needle collect on the ground as I'm allergic to pine and cedar and I have one of each.I have two confederate rose bushes. The leaves from the confederate rose or falling but thats not bad.
I like to use my oak leaves as mulch. The worms eat them and leave their nutrient rich castings behind. It's a win win situation for my flowers.
I can relate as we are swamped with leaves. We have at least 100 trees. Hubby uses his riding mower to chop some up and some I compost. I like to rake but HATE to pick up the piles-so hubby does it. Now that's better than diamonds in my book. 8)
