Thank you Sjoerd Yes,the blackbirds and robins have been singing their hearts out for a while now.They seemed to be in good voice when I let the dogs out for a wee at 1/4 to 5 this morning I finished the ironing when all the food had gone..

You did manage to get the ironing done though.Was a quarter to five when you finally got finished with the ironing? --chortle-- Good to see that you've got your priorities right. Say, do you give the birds meal worms throughout the year, or at particular times? We can get those here as well at pet shops. I have never used them, but was thinking about it during the brooding season. The birds are singing like mad here at the moment...just singing in the rain.

Now that seems funny to me second, forth and fifth picture looks like, what we call, the American Robin... Is that the care? Your Blackbird is our Robin??? Well, either way they are very happy with your grubs. I must give them meal worms soon. I notice the bluebirds are already beginning to nest.

Oh Boy. I love being side tracked like that. All though the pic of the sparrows made me frown. I know they are native over there. But here in the states they are a real problem because they destroy our Blue birds. I to feed meal worms. They are like tasty candy to the bird world. Great photo's.
Don't panic Sjoerd,we all went back to bed until gone 7-they only took a couple of minutes.And no,I don't have quite that much laundry to iron,being only 2 of us. I deal with a company that sends me a box of birdfood each month and they put in in it something appropriate for the time of year.So back in December and january there were lots of high-fat seeds and fat balls and now its supposed to be spring we still get the fat balls and different seeds but sometimes they put in the mealworms.When I signed up for the box I forgot to tick a box and they send mbe live ones which make my skin creep but the birds asolutely adore them and they're always the first things to go. Shame they're so expensive or I'd buy more of them.Even the dried ones are expensive :-(
I keep the dried meal worms out for which ever bird fancies them. They usually get eaten pretty quick but I never see what is eating them I like your little dish feeder, that's really cute. Barb, the American Robin is a light brown with a more distinctive red chest.
From the pictures I've seen your robins are bigger than ours and have a more rusty coloured bib.I don't know if they are as feisty as ours,who will fight ferociously over both territory and the ladies.
Its really funny when the birds have to do the acrobatics to find the escapees from the tray-they tend to make for the gaps in the wooden stand and who can blame them?
