We had hail Saturday June 28, 2008...the weather started out hailing and then we had pouring rain for a while. I feel quite fortunate that we didn't have more damage and that the hail wasn't bigger. Some areas had had 1 3/4 inch size. Ours was about the size of a dime. It literally shredded my large canna leaves and put holes in a lot of other plants and trees...It sounded like the windows would break as it hit against the glass.

Those were seriously big hail! Summer hail is so annoying! I hate to walk around and see the destructions afterwards. So sorry for your shredded plant leaves. I hope they will perk up after a while.

    Ouch poor plants.

How annoying hail can be. I hope that the plants will pick themselves up. That was a lot of hail and quite big too.

I've never seen hail quite sooooo big!! We get pea sized hail here in Scotland which does quite enough damage!! I hope all your plants survive and that's the last you'll see of those hailstones.

We've had a lot of hail in areas around us in NC, but we don't get it on the coast. Hope your garden revives!

Two years ago, we got a nasty hailstorm here in April. It woke my hubby and I up to a noise that sounded like baseballs hitting the roof. Fortunately, I hadn't even planted my garden yet. But everyone in our neighborhood had roof damage.

This is a quarter next to it to show how large the hailstones were.

How time saving! You'd just throw those on each other instead of making snow balls first. :D On a serious note, no wonder you had roof damage. Those are big and probably rock hard too.

Hail scares me, even since riding a bike with no brakes down a steep hill during a heavy hail shower. And I was wearing shorts too, ouch :(

We had hail here too, Sherry, but pea sized. Two summers ago, though, the hail nearby was the size of Jakrum's...it broke car windows and put big dents on all cars parked outside. Lots of damage that year.

    Tch! How annoying is that!
I hope that not too many ofg your plants were injured with the hail.

You have my sympathy because the same thing happend here about a month ago. My snapdragons are finally coming out of it :) The hail broke one of my plastic hummingbird feeders, looked like bullet holes went through it! Years ago I was working for the Chevy dealer when we got a massive hail storm. Needless to say we had a HUGE hail damage sale afterward :D I thought the whole sales crew was going to cry like babies

That is some respectable size hail. Hope your flowers come back OK. I don't like it either.

Frank, sounds like you had the ride from 'hail'!!

I was really happy the hail didn't break our new windows...but hail as big Jakrum's would have. You could hear it hitting on the west side of the house..
