happy happy happy dirty-fingernails-happy!

The sun came out & I got to work in my garden today! OK, so, it snowed last night & school was 2 hour late because of that, but then I got to go scratch in the dirt! I dug out a new spot for my peas, along the sunny side of my studio, planted a post that will eventually support the fence, and laid black plastic over the rest of the area that will soon be my onion-and-whatever else bed. I've got a few seeds ready to go, and some tomato seeds in pots inside the house. Wish I could grow enough to make canning a possibility, but maybe a trip to farm country in Eastern Wa. is in order later. For now, my garden is all optimism and possibility!

 

Good for you, critterpainter. i got my fix by planting some creeping thyme today.

I got my fix by re-potting a few indoor plants. It's not the same, but it will have to do

 

I've been getting dirt under my fingernails digging in the dirt. I have almost finished my long flowerbed and planted seeds for tomatoes and peppers yesterday. Today, Glenda gave me a cut off of her Carolina Jasmine which I planted in a pot. dooley

 

It snowed but yet you can still dig in the dirt? Isnt it frozen like my patch? lol

 

Washington snow. The kind that is so wet that it comes down in big, fat cornflakes. Actually, I was surprised that I could dig so easily, but I had decided today was the day and a little snow and ice wasn't going to stop me

Oh I'm jealous I have that dig in the dirt urge too! I bought some begonia tubers and will put them in a pot tomorrow. I will baby them along in my office windows for a few months.

 

is your ground frozen stratsmom? I always thought So. O. was warmer than here...

 

Parts of Oregon are warmer. I'm South, out of the rain-belt I live about 60 miles from Crater Lake National Park so we see plenty of snow and freezing temps. The tulips, daffodils and peonies love it!!
Today has been beautiful but they are forecasting snow and rain all next week

 

aw, rats, now I'm jealous of where you live, lol!! Rain here too, sigh, but I had my day in the sun...

I got all in the mood after reading your post and headed out to the lottie myself. We didn't do much "dirt-work" as the ground is still too wet, but we spend an houe and a half cutting down and cleaning out the heart of the pampus grass clump.

We had tried the past couple of years, but stopped because of a nest of little mice with pink, hairless babies.

Spring is no longer coming over the horizon here, it has a foot in the door.
