Hellebores are one of the most treasured flowers in my garden. They begin to show their happy faces in late winter and continue to bloom into Spring. I like to use them in flower arrangements, they don't last long when you cut them a day or two but they are beautiful while they last. Here are a few of my photographs.

Those are gorgeous, they look like glazed porcelain.
I have wanted to grow them here but my zone 8 is way different from the zone 8 up along the east or west coast so I figure why put such a pretty plant thru the horror that is ours from June thru Sept.

Lovely Hellebores! :D We've got several outside but none have started blooming yet this year. Neither wonder, there's still lots of snow on top of them. I adore them too.

Our hellebores have only just begun to flower. They are usually blooming here mid January. They're very late this year but welcome all the same. :-D I really like your deep red and purple ones - must get some of those colours for myself.

Those are such lovely flowers, Gail. I especially liked the next to last one. Are those bird houses in the background?

You do have some quite nice varieties, there.

Sjoerd I do have a collection of bird houses there is a serving tray with bird houses on it in the background. Its hard to get a good photograph of helebores in the garden unless you lay on the ground  their pretty faces tend to hang down.

I am glad you all agree this is a wonderful plant, thanks for you comments. :-D

I think that your birdhouse collection makes for a nice background.
I don't think that I have ever known anyone with such a collection. perhaps you would be so kind as to show some of your examples sometime...I would be interested. :)

Here are a few pictures of the bird houses...taken last year.

Most of them are just decorative, some are packed away...no place to display.

Oh, those are really something! They look too pretty to have been made for birds to use. Are some of them made for use by birds and some strictly for collecting?

Well, whatever-- they are too lovely to put outside in the elements.

I have to just keep looking at them. Some look familiar, but I know that that isn´t possible.

Thank you so much for showing these amazing pieces of work.

The smaller ones on top are made by Blue sky...they are ceramic & just decorative. The painted ones are by Kathy Hatch. I would not put them outside either, they are just for decoration in the sunroom. I am glad you enjoyed viewing them.
