We were going to the parade and services and stopped at McDonalds for coffee and sausage & egg McMuffins. Got parked at the bridge where they hold the Navy & Coast Guard Memorial service. And the sjys opened up with rain, lightning and thunder. After about 30 minutes some guy came along and said that that service and the parade were cancelled. But that the Memorial Day service would be held at the Veterans Memorial auditorium. Since I had just wanted to get pictures of the parade etc. We went to Lowes. They had their Knockout Roses on sale at 50% off. The regular price was $26.95 and we paid $17.98 with an additional 10% off for being a Vet. Not a bad deal. We got a red one and will give it a try. We usually dn't have very good luck with roses because of the Japanese Beatles. If this one does good, then we will get some more next year!
Happy Memorial Day to you Capt! And good luck with the rose. I hope it works out for you -- they sure are eye catching when they are in full bloom, which seems to be all the time. I'm about over roses because of blackspot, but sometimes the knockouts are tempting to me, supposed to be resistant to blackspot. You'll have to let us know how it goes.
