This hawk was right on the deck and on the seed table. Its raining and cold. Took it from a window about six feet away.

Your hawk looks very similar to the Sparrowhawks that frequent my garden. I'm just glad I'm not a little bird with that penetrating gaze focused on me.

Wow, that is a great photo. Hawks are such regal looking birds. I can always tell when one is around as the feeders clear out fast. I would leave to if I thought I would become a hawk meal.

    a cat's 9 lives

Once, my wife and I were sitting on our patio, with our cat. It happened so quick-a hawk picked up our cat and at about 10 ft. up, dropped it.

We have lots of hawks in the spring and summer time coming over our house. It is so amazing to see them over a city, but never a photo such as yours.

Very cool photo Kildale. He is looking for a meal, but not on that seed tray! :)

A bit late, I know, but I only just saw your photo. Wow, what a beauty, lucky you to get such a magnificent bird visiting your backyard!! Do hawks often hang around the seedtable?

Here we only get your typical urbanised sparrowhawk, usually only when she's very hungry. She is quite the opportunist, taking advantage of our birdfeeders.

Thank you for the posts. They say that they know where all the local feeders are and make visits to look at the menu.
