    Six days ago I came across this hawthorne bud.I keep waiting for it to open it's beautiful petals.

    I love Hawthorns and have two in my yard...a thornless variety and the Washington Hawthorn which is loaded with thorns. The birds love the protection of the thorns and nest in it every spring. They're great trees, and I'll have to be patient because I've got a few months wait before mine are in bloom.

    Are those icicles hanging from the buds? Poor things, hope they get to bloom and not just freeze off.
