Good morning all. I'm just popping in to rant about what I'm spending time on these days, just in case anybody's wondering. We're making ready for winter. I'm not certain that we've had any autumn to speak of since I've been rather busy. We've had loads of rain, days spent inside clearing out years of mess, and suddenly there's snow on the mountain tops and we've had frost during the night too. I'm not ready for this yet! I've got so much more to do outside. *whimpers, whines and screams of frustration here* Our blooms are dying away too fast and my moss brick border isn't finished yet either. We probably won't have the whole thing done before winter, and I so hoped we would. Well, there's always next year I guess. The hay's been ordered and we've nearly got everything in place now. Almost seven tons so far, and today the last delivery of "only" 1,3 tons will arrive. My arms are so long I worry about my knuckles being scraped when I walk. The furries need their training too, and we're riding and coach driving like mad in preparation for some small dos in dressage, jumping and driving. Not every day of course. Both furries and rider/coachman and ground crew need a day or two of rest during the week. Anyways, with winter approaching so fast I'll suddenly have more spare time on my hands, and I'm looking forward to spending more time with you lot. Now, what's new with my fellow gardening friends all over the world? Do tell.
Hello There Droopy! How nice to see you, poking your head out of the hay loft there....and those loooong arms--have you been swinging from the rafters as well as unloading hay? Well, it's good that you popped-in for a chat, I haven't heard a good rant from you for a long time. hahaha. Its good that you have taken a little break from your work now, for if those arms get any longer you shall need to carry them around in a satchel or something. Well. I see that you have reluctantly begun with the winterizing process. That's what I am up to myself. I have taken some time to get things at the allotments in order. Perhaps I will post something in a little while. It does seem that winter, not fall in encroaching at a speed of knots and I am not ready for it just yet. There are still some flowers blooming and the colour green is still the most prevalent in the lotties...it's just the accelerated season change that's throwing a spanner in the works. Ok then, good to see you and I hope that your horse training goes well and that you will make a showing at the upcoming 'do's' that you will be satisfied with.
Hiya Droopy Gosh you seem to have been run off your feet since we last heard from you. We'll have to re-classify you and put you in with the Orang Utans and other apes if those arm get much longer. We've had frost on the ground for the last few days and I badly want it to go away again until I have everything cut back in the garden. We haven't had a decent summer this year at all - maybe four weeks of sunshine altogether so I'm not nearly ready for approaching winter. I hope you enjoy all your horsey do's after all the hard work you've done. I'll look forward to more of your piccies of the driving, dressage and jumping. Take care with that last 1.3 tons of hay now - long arms do make the job of slinging it around much easier though don't they?
It was only about 60 degs here this morning but it's not winter yet. It is the type of weather where it's chilly in the am but you use the a/c in the afternoon or evening. We've been using it less though. dooley
I'm glad you still remember me. You never know you know. Dooley, we've got up to 12°C during the day when the sun's shining, but frost at night. And we don't stand in the shade. The shade's too chilly. But out in the sun it's quite nice. Our A/C is on "heat" now.
Glad you have found time to post, sounds like you have been really busy. We had record heat this summer tying the Knoxville record for most days in the 90's (78 days) which is 32.2 celcius. Since my daughter is getting married outside this weekend, I hope it stays warm and sunny...it's suppose to be 75 & sunny.
Hi Droopy! I've missed you! I've had a very long, hot summer and I'm ready for a rest. The gardens at work will be put to bed and then it's time for my holidays
Gail, good luck with the wedding. I'd never dare to plan an outdoors wedding since the weather changes from day to day, not to say hour by hour. I hope to see some photos of your decorations and the festivities if you're not too shaky to photograph. Netty, thank you. *hugs* I'm missing you too. I think of the Stewbies often when I'm out and about, trying to remember to photograph our doings and progress. You'll probably get drowned in photos once I have the time to go through them and post some.
Droopy, When do you find time to sit down? I'm fascinated by the horse training and coach driving. A farm down the road from us is beginning to train two of their horses to pull a buckboard wagon so they can take part in historic re-creations. So far the horses are not synchronized--makes for a rough ride! Maybe that's why it's called a "buck" board wagon!
I used to phoptograph a lot of horse shows and this week received over 400 slides back from Equus magazine as I used to shoot stock photos for them. Had a few in Horse Illustrated too, never been on a horse though.
marlingardener, I try not to sit because then I fall asleep instantly. Kildale, you should try it once.
Phewie Droopy, glad you had a moment to post and take a breath. I do find the autumn a busy time, getting the garden and allotments tidied and ready for the onslaught of winter. We spent all of this weekend in the garden cutting grass, cutting back plants and putting things away. It has been very mild here this weekend, so much so we have had BBQ's both evenings, but the nights are cold, especially tonight as it is so clear. bbbrrr. I am not ready for winter at all, can't remember summer! I suppose it won't be long and you will all start posting snowy scenes. Take it easy, and look forward to catching up with you again soon.
